New Field Champion!
Congratulations to Mark and Crystal Rothhaar and their new Field Champion, FC Totem Jake's Seaside Martini JH! Jake won the Amateur Limited Gun Dog retrieving major and the Open Gun Dog major at the Tomoka Woods Pointing Breed Club's field trial to finish his Field Championship in his first Gun Dog season at the ripe old age of 2. Way to go Jake and Mark! |

Successful Vizsla Breed & Rescue Booth at the Responsible Dog Owner Day in Tampa
The TBVC had a booth at the AKC's Responsible Dog Owner Day on September 12 at the Harborview Center.
This event is meant to inform/educate/entertain & offer merchandise to the community & their canines. They had agility and obedience demos, police dog demos, 4-H dog handling demos and the Breed Parade - each breed goes around the ring while the announcer reads the AKC description.
Thank you so much to our human and 4-legged volunteers to spent the day representing our breed! Special thanks to Betty and Dibley, Renee and Guy VanM with Eli, Jim and Donita C. with Dascha and Rusty, and of course Pam Stuart and Monty, who organized the event (yes, Monty helped!) |

Hunting Dog of the Year Winner 2009
The TBVC recognized Dealer, owned by Joy Lyons (center) and handled by Larry Shramko (left) as the Hunting Dog of the Year for 2009 at the August Fun Day. Hunting Dog Stakes are held at each TBVC hunt/field event as a training session for dogs going from Junior to Senior Hunter, and the traveling trophy (held by Paul Hermes, right) is given to the dog that collects the most points during the season.

Congratulations to Ayla (Jazzberry CMF SR Island Girl JH) and her owners Stephanie Daugherty and Carol Johnson for receiving the Starr Schultheis Traveling Trophy for winning Amateur Walking Derby at the February Field Trial!
The Starr Schultheis Traveling Trophy is a memorial to Starr, who was one of the founding members of the Tampa Bay Vizsla Club and breeder, friend and mentor for many current club members. The trophy was sponsored by a number of people in her name and is given out each February during the TBVC Amateur Walking Derby stake. This win is especially meaningful for Stephanie and Carol--Starr bred their first vizsla and got them started in the field.

The Vizsla Epilepsy Research Blood Draw at the TBVC Fun Day had the participation of 89 (EIGHTY NINE!) Vizslas and the basket raffle raised $1,045 for the Vizsla Welfare Foundation earmarked for the Epilepsy Research Project. THANK YOU to all of the volunteers and contributors that made this possible, it is your hard work and efforts that help to improve the breed!
